Heigel Park - Sport Courts and Catawba Island State Park

Heigel Park is located directly adjacent to SunnySide Tower.  The public park offers two tennis courts, basketball court, sledding hill, a soccer field, baseball field, pavilion, and two playgrounds.  Just beyond the quiet neighborhood is Catawba Island State Park and Lake Erie shoreline!  Catawba Island State Park offers boat launch, fishing pier, stone beach, pavilion, picnicking, restrooms, parking for boat trailers, plus during winter months ice skating and ice fishing.

Twin Oast Micro-Brewery and Gideon Owen Historic Winery 

 

Twin Oast a popular micro-brewery is one mile from Sunnyside Tower.  A beautiful 60-acre farm estate for beer lovers.  Owned by the same family, Gideon Owen was the former Mon Ami Historic Winery is one of the oldest wineries in the Lake Erie Islands region. The winery is of further significance as one of the four large co-operative wineries which played an important role in the development of the region's wine industry. Both venues offer live music and special events.

Miller Ferry Boat - Waterway to Lake Erie Islands

Just one mile north of Sunnyside Tower.  Escape the mainland and explore an Island just a short ferry boat ride away.  Put-in-Bay (South Bass Island) and Middle Bass Island can be easily reached on Miller Boat Line passenger and car ferries.  Welcome Aboard!  Enjoy a nostalgic Miller Ferry ride on Lake Erie. Marblehead Lighthouse - Historic State Park

One of Lake Erie's most-photographed landmarks, the Marblehead Lighthouse is one of Ohio's state parks and features excellent picnicking, views of Sandusky Bay, Kelley's and South Bass Islands as well as a museum, located in the Keeper's House.
